McGill Junge Wealth Management is proud to be one of the sponsors of The Bright Path: The Johnny Bright Story.
Our passion for this project started in October 2022 when we sponsored the red-carpet screening premiere at the Des Moines Playhouse. Thank you to the hundreds of clients and friends who showed up to honor Johnny’s legacy.
After making its public debut on Iowa PBS last year, The Bright Path was selected for two film festivals: The Chicago Indie Film Festival and the Pan African Film Festival.
Fast forward a few months and the documentary was picked up by CBS Sports and will air multiple times in February 2023 for Black History Month. If you missed the premiere screening, check out the future dates when you can watch Johnny’s incredible story.
National Commercial with MJWM and BLK & Bold
To show our continued support, we teamed up with BLK & Bold’s CEO Pernell Cezar to create a commercial centered around the perseverance of Johnny Bright. The one-minute spot illustrates how his legacy translates to inspiration and parallels to community and partnership values within these companies.
This additional 3-minute interview with Pernell Cezar and Ed McGill centers around the community initiatives they're proud of today, and how they look forward to making an impact in the future.

Investing in and Supporting Startups Founded by Women and Black Entrepreneurs
Female-founded startups receive less than three percent of the approximately $80 billion in venture capital annually, and Black founders receive less than one percent. As part of our ongoing commitment to women and diversity, Northwestern Mutual has dedicated a total of $40 million to investing in startup companies founded by women and Black entrepreneurs. This funding allocation will advance the company’s investment strategy of engaging startups whose technologies have the potential to transform how clients experience financial security, as well as increase focus on technological disruption. The investment criteria align with NM Future Ventures' key strategic areas of focus.
